Born into a musical family, Rachel Nozny tried for years to avoid the life of a performer. Failing miserably, she earned degrees at both Mercer University and the University of Kentucky in flute performance with instructors Kelly Via and Gordon Cole respectively. Moving north (but not quite to Canada), Rachel served as principal flutist of the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Orchestra from 2009 to 2012 where she was a featured soloist in 2012.

While in North Dakota, Rachel started studying with world-renowned flutist Carol Wincenc, who made a future life outside of music even less likely. After moving back south, Rachel helped to form a number of chamber ensembles beyond her orchestral duties.  In addition to being piccoloist with the Mobile Symphony Orchestra she also performs in R2 Duo with guitarist Robby Gibson, the BRN Duo with percussionist Brian Nozny, and the Celtic fusion group 2nd Breakfast.

Currently residing in Mobile, AL, Rachel is counting her blessings that music is still a passion for her and still enjoys playing trios with her parents.
